What I am loving this spring
It’s incredible how much better weather changes me. I’m typing this little note to you from a partially sunny, 73 degree day in Honesdale and honestly, I’m in a better mood than I’ve been in in weeks. I’ve been sitting on this issue for a minute, but I haven’t had the motivation to work on anything lately (blame it on my cycle and the cloudy days). Anyways, I’m finally feeling more motivated again and I’m utilizing this day of productivity gifted to me by the sun gods to get this out to you.
I have been crushing hard on a few things lately and thought it was only right to share those things with you all. They truly feel like staples and a lot of them are really changing the game for me. I will note that none of the products mentioned are sponsored—they are truly just things that I am loving. However, I will link from my ShopMy so that should you purchase, I can benefit from the recos I shared!
Sunlight. As I mentioned up top, sunlight for me is such a game changer. Sometimes I wish I weren’t built this way, but I’m a tropical-blooded lady with parents from two very warm climates and beautiful beaches. When I don’t get sunlight I wilt like a deprived flower. I’m learning to move with the rythyms of Northeastern climate, but its sometimes it is a challenge. I’m happy that we are now more squarely in the time of year when the sun is out more often and is strong enough to warm my skin.
Natural deoderant. Okay so if I’m being honest, this deoderant is the whole reason I came up with this newsletter issue. I’ve been using natural deoderant for over 10 years and if you use natural stuff you know that eventually (usually two-three months) you have to switch over to another one because the first one stopped working. I’ve been dealing with gnarly stress sweating the past year or so. It’s so bad sometimes that I’ve cried from embarassment and worry that people will think I stink. A few months ago I was visiting DC and Tiffany turned me on to this natural deoderant that actually works. She said that it’s been working for her already for 2 years straight(!) That is impressive. Since purchasing a tube, I have to say that it is really doing the trick so far. I am very, very impressed.
Kosas sport lipfuel. While we’re waxing poetic about Kosas, I simultaneously bought this incredible chapstick/lipstick hybrid and I’ve been wearing it almost every day. I’ve been wanting to look a bit more “polished” while still remaining true to my makeupless lifestyle and this baby does the trick. It deposits a perfect amount of color and is so moisturizing.
Innate Life oil. I talked about this hair oil a few months ago, but along with the stress sweat, I’ve been experiencing hair fall (fun fun fun) and this hair oil was being heavily advertised to me on the socials. I finally caved and got a bottle and I don’t regret it one bit. I’m still assessing how much it has helped with hair regrowth, but I will say that it is deeply conditioning and makes my hair so soft. I love the ritual of applying and massaging it into my scalp weekly, so much so that sometimes I do the ritual twice a week. The scent is deep rosemary and I feel calm and centered when its on my scalp.
Women Who Run with the Wolves. I’m finally reading this book and although I am very familiar with its contents it is still throwing me for a total loop. if you’re ready to reclaim your feminine power I highly recommend reading this. Maybe I’ll have a little meet up to discuss all of the things that come up from it.
Seabuckthorn oil. I use only one product on my face and its this one. Living Libations Best Skin Ever is a game changer and has been an excellent way for me to reset my skin when I need it. Especially as we shift seasons, its a great way to keep my skin calm and happy.
Jones Road brow gel. I tried this brow gel at Cherry Bombe Jubilee and I am absolutely LOVING how it shapes and holds my brows. I am a brow gel over everything girl, most days its the only makeup I put on. This brow gel instantly frames my face and lifts the girls. I love love love.
Long nails. I know I’m way late to the party, but I’ve been allowing my nails to grow out a tad longer than I normally do. I am generally very vigilant about keeping my nails ultra short, but I have to say, I’ve been loving a bit of length and how color sits on the larger amount of surface area. I’m wearing Mooncat right now, and it plays into my childhood fantasies of irridescent and glittery everything. The colors are all to die for and downright magical.
Propolis. I’ve gotten sick way too many times this season and it has really rocked me. I was at the farmer’s market a few weeks ago buying honey for my allergies (that I also have this year, yikes!) and the vendor suggested taking a propolis tincture. I already had a bottle and I immediately began taking it when I got home that afternoon. It knocked out my chesty cough in just two days and has been in my backpack every day since.
Good bread with labne and za’atar. This is my ultimate nostalgia breakfast. I especailly love it in the summer months because it’s refreshing and light but still feels hearty and filling.
Spring garlic. Speaking of food, I made a chopped salad with olive oil and lemon dressing and I used spring garlic instead of scallions and MAN was it PERFECT. The flavor that the garlic imparts exceeded all expectations and elevated the salad to new heights.
Meals pants. I caved and finally got a pair and they are amaze. I love how comfy and baggy they are—they’ve truly become my go-to pair for the spring.
Blobs! These little gummies are DELISH.
Perfume. So I’ve always been into scents, and for a while I’ve worn a turkish aftershave my saba used to use as my perfume because it reminds me of him and his spirit. But I think I’m moving into a phase of wanting to wear and play with perfumes, perhaps even cultivate a signature scent. I was in Aesop buying handcream a few days ago and was turned on to their fragrance line. I fell in love with one called Eidesis and will be splurging soon enough.
Funny Fuzzy car seat. We adopted our pup, Oli a few weeks ago and it’s been wonderful. My favorite accessory that we got for her is this car seat that attaches to the seat and has a leash to keep our girl secure. Oli loves her little bed and gets so cozy as we drive around. It also has handles and can be worn as a bag, which is so great if I want to bring her in for a quick errand and she is still sleepy. Super high recommendations!
Okay that’s it for now! What are you loving this season?
