Ahhhh, the start of Virgo season. I, for one, am feeling the heavy back to school energy and the insatiable urge to organize everything that comes with this time of year. Our move up north has us experiencing cooler mornings, with crisp air funneling through the open screen door of our “treehouse” apartment, and this instantly puts me into a state of wanting all things C-O-Z-Y. The return of sweaters and moments reading a book on the couch with big mug of tea, and lighting palo santo daily. We are nearing the Jewish high holidays in just a few weeks, and are currently in the last month of the Jewish calendar, Elul, which focuses in renewing a closeness to spirit—remembering our truest version of self in preparation for the new year of Rosh Hashanah and the forgiveness we seek on Yom Kippur. I’ve been reflecting on this—having just made this big change in my life that allows me to be more centered and express a truer version of who I am at my core.
All of this considered, August has been a month of freedom. Freeing myself from a schedule, no more daily commutes, granting myself the spaciousness to explore all of the small towns nearby, and listening to the rustling of leaves in the trees. Eating mint chip ice cream while the sun sets, and finally finding farm-fresh peaches and ground cherries to devour with pure abandon. I’ve been celebrating less bras, more cooking, nesting inward, and fully listening to my intuition and what she wants every moment of every day.
Below are my August delights. Shabbat Shalom.
Here are some of the things that I’ve been loving:
My August wrapped into a playlist.
Though our focus for taking a break from the city wasn’t with the intention of downsizing, we did downsize our living space. It feels really refreshing and centering. This reel felt so confirming to watch.
Obviously going to plug BARD 3 and the Aperol Spritz Tee. Today is the final sale day!
Love love love this connection to ancestral sounds.
The thrill of getting to know new farmers markets and makers.
Cheese. Not sure why, but It’s all I want and I’m following my callings. Finding it straight from the farm up here is quite delightful.
Tomato bouquets are popping up everywhere and I am very into them.
Blume’s Rose London Fog is a product I discovered up in Montreal and was thrilled when I found it at a local coffee shop here. I’ve been making myself a little afternoon pick-me-up with it.
SUNLIGHT. Sweet, delicious sunlight.
How I feel this month, and this too.
It comes with the territory of being outside of a city, but I’m really enjoying a simpler approach to dressing, throwing on good quality basics and going about my day.
But also, filing for later—I just found my new style icons.
Can’t wait to visit the NYC soon to take a balletcore class. I grew up taking ballet from the age of 2 to 16, and I know this class would be like salve to the soul.
A sweet reminder to BE YOURSELF, always.
Even though I have no reason to buy this, I got to wear this gorgeous leather trench coat for a recent modeling gig and I am downright obsessed. It’s a splurge, but feels like something that would be relevantly in my closet for my entire life.
