Hi! It’s been a whole minute since I’ve done a monthly round up. I missed sharing in June because frankly friends, June was a total sh*tshow. Most of you all know the story by now, but between a wedding in Massachusetts on the 3rd, another wedding in Pittsburgh on the 10th and then one in Tuscany on the 17th, losing our luggage upon arrival in Italy and returning to discover that our bikes were stolen out of our fenced in yard, we barely had time to breathe. We made it through, (and have finally completed all of the claims and emails necessary to be reimbursed and back on track) but not without several breakdowns and a lot of neglected errands and chores. If June itself wasn’t enough, I jumped right into July with a filming job in Long Island and then flew to Austin for a work conference a day later.
Needless to say, there has been a lot going on over here and even though things have no indications of slowing down just yet, I feel as though this week is the first moment I have had since the beginning of June to take a breath. There are some more big transitions coming my way in the next few weeks (more on that very soon) and although I am not out of the tunnel yet, I can finally see the light on the other side. I’m looking forward to some serious S P A C I O U S N E S S in August to do what I need to in each moment more intentionally and with ease.
The idea of this space feels juicy, exciting—fresh. I have a feeling that this will be a season to tap in to following my heart, and listening to her whispers and deepest desires.
Here are some of the things that I’ve been loving:
This book. I spent the whole day Sunday reading on the couch, and let me tell you, it was such a luxury. I had been daydreaming of doing just this for months and to give myself the permission to read for a whole day was just so liberating. And finishing the book that evening was the cherry on top. This book brought up so many thought-provoking feelings around being a first generation American and what it means to grow up with immigrant parents. I really loved the way the stories were told, speaking to some of these intricate and intimate relationships between mother and daughter, growing up in two worlds that intertwine and diverge as time passes. Truly a gorgeous read.
Getting back into the routine of taking a daily dose of magnesium has been pretty life changing for me. My anxiety has been at a consistent level 15 for the past few months and this really brought me down a few notches to a place where I can function without feeling like garbage.
And this tincture. I’m leaning heavily on my remedies in this season of my life. I am super grateful to have them as a support system.
These pants that I wish would magically appear in my closet.
Texas might’ve rubbed off on a me a bit. I am in love with the bolo tie I purchased while in Austin, and I am swooning hard over these wildly patterned boots.
Happy to report post Italy trip that a cappuccino with a beach view remains at the top of my list of the things I love most.
And on that note, truly taking my time to enjoy my surroundings is something I internalized while visiting Europe and plan to continue to work it into my daily life.
The Pugliese olives I ate in Polignano a Mare on our balcony with the sound of crashing waves and a warm, salty breeze was one of my favorite moments. (If I ever find those olives again I will joyfully scream and then stockpile.)
This dress that has officially become my summer uniform.
This romantic headpiece makes me want to frolic in a meadow.
Disco cubes 4ever. They never disappoint with their brilliant ideas.
This music. It makes my heart swell with a deep recognition of my ancestry.
BODE has my heart forever and always and one day I will cherish a piece from them like this one.
I’m in the middle of listening to this immersive episode of Field Trip. I was introduced to this podcast via my friend, Carey, and man, it’s goooood. If you want to feel a little removed from the daily grind, this might be for you.
