It has been snowing almost every day here in Honesdale and I have to say, even though I’m experiencing a bit of cabin-fever, I am pretty happy to be in hibernation mode. Plus, the snow is really romantic as it coats the pine trees outside of our kitchen window.
This full moon in Leo coupled with this major (long term) shift of Pluto into Aquarius has me feeling all of the things. I’ve been having a week of hyper vivid (and kind of creepy) dreams that wake me up in the middle of the night. I’m also feeling restless and antsy in a way that I can’t fully describe. The theme of this time feels very energetically geared towards owning our individual magic and knowing that we are amazing and valuable just as we are. I’m reminding this to myself daily over here!
Here’s what I’ve been noodling around and saving in my notes, IG, etc. this month:
First things first, I was featured in Re: Agency’s latest newsletter all about care. I am beyond flattered to be featured alongside these rockstars and love what everyone had to say. Check it out.
Top of mind is my hunt for pants that offer structure but aren’t restrictive. I don’t necessarily want a jogger or anything that reads thin-material lounge pant. Rather, I am looking for something that is stylish and can be worn out as easily as it can be lounged in while still looking cool. I feel like we should all have our favorites due to our collective work-from-home days. Alas, I shot the question out to my IG followers, and did some digging myself. Here’s the round up:
🌟The chef pants from meals. I’m specifically really interested in the flour color way.
💗Donni has been serving me a heavy dose of ads on Instagram (I must be their exact target audience) and I have to say, these Rib Kick Flare pants are pretty much what I’m looking for. The reviewers say that the pants are heavier in their fabrication and very comfy. I’m pretty tempted to try them out.
🌊The lake pants from Everybody World feel like sweatpants but elevated, we could wear them out with a chunky sweatshirt and still look presentable.
🍎Honestly, the whole pants section of Sotela look like the vibe I’m searching for.
🐫If I were to lean into the whole jogger thing however, I would go for these ones by Holyland Civilians.
🧘🏽♀️The laid back pant by Beyond Yoga also looks pretty ideal, especially for my days at home when I want to go from a zoom meeting to a quick yoga stretch and then maybe out for an errand or two without having to change.
Hear me out: Similarly to virtually every person who was in junior/high school when the original Mean Girls came out, my best friend Gabe and I were obsessed and could recite every. single. line. (I even went deeper and learned the Kevin Gnapoor rap by heart lol) So, naturally when the new version came out, we had to go see it. And honestly, although we were totally blindsided (as was the marketing team’s plan) into seeing a musical, I thoroughly LOVED it and the sound track. This song even made it to the Jan playlist (the lyrics are terrible but the melody is killer haha).
It’s 2024, and with the transition of Pluto into Aquarius (finally), we all need this message to permeate deep into our core. Hustle culture is dead, and I truly believe the more we lean into our magnetism and unique gifts the more ease we will have in finding our place within the new Aquarian structure the world is birthing. I’ll probably talk more about this in another newsletter issue because there’s a lot more to say about this transition.
I came across this Etsy shop earlier this month and I.am.obsessed. Especially with these goose earrings. Like, can we not!? I need them to adorn my ears yesterday.
Loved this episode of Cherry Bombe Radio. I immediately ordered Liz’s book and can’t wait to dive in. I will also be journaling about “my why” once again to really get to the crux of it.
I don’t know all of the words, but this song is beautiful. While you’re at it, if you’re feeling explorative, check out my whole January playlist. It’s quite eclectic this month.
On my vision board is to get invited to travel to locations across the world that are offering unique bathing experiences. I’m talking saunas, thermal pools, hammams, onsens, etc. Y’all already know I’m obsessed with this lifestyle. Anyways, I came across a new to me ritual: hay bathing. The Matca Hotel offers this service at their spa, and the property looks like a total dream. Plus, the idea of visiting Transylvania excites me. Who knows, maybe we’ll have an On Holiday issue all about the transformative experience of hay bathing someday?!
This article really spoke to me on the way we approach work.
This ice cream also really spoke to me:
I’ve been thinking a lot about up-cycling with all of my crafting lately and these shirts really caught my attention.
Not necessarily new to me, but a more frequent meal lately have been these ramen packets. They’re so easy to whip up for lunch in 6 mins and are super healthy (since I definitely suffer from a bit of fixation/forget to eat thing).
I stumbled upon this retreat center via Prior and I am very impressed. I’ll be keeping a mental note of this place. Somewhat related, but not (yet) the demographic of MEA, finding this business got me thinking deeper about the future of elderly care and their societal inclusion. I know this is a whopper of a topic, but don’t we think its about time that the elderly were honored a bit more in our society? Brought into the folds of “cool” and treated like the sage individuals they’ve earned status of becoming? I really hope that places like MEA spark an interest in creating more innovation around aging. Let’s reinvent the old-folks home for heaven’s sake. We can definitely do better. Speaking of Aquarian-led living, let’s dive deeper into community-focused, multi-generational living opportunities where we lean on each other and collectively grow. It takes a village…right? I wonder how our overall health would shift?
I think these gals are SO cool. I tried a little cold-exposure this month, but after chatting with a body-work therapist I am currently working with, she suggested that my heavy vata constitution may not respond to the cold in the way others do. So, instead, I am beginning a ritual of daily oiling to bring my body back into grounded alignment.
And lastly, I’m very intrigued by the Perfectly imperfect app. I downloaded it last night after a friend posted about it on IG, and I am enjoying playing around on it. It kind of feels reminiscent of myspace, tumblr and maybe even early-days twitter? Basically, I’m into it.
What has caught your attention this month? I’d love to hear.
Speaking of chef pants 👀 I have these ones both in black and in blue corduroy and wear them every day. Dressed up and dressed down. Affordable and well made and if your ever in Venice, California, you can visit their store front
