Summer is here and I am breathing a sigh of relief. Summer always feels easier, lighter. I’m always less worried in the summer and feel like I can actually live. I’m in Florida for the first time in over 15 years and it has felt like a warm blanket over my shoulders. I spent most of my childhood in South Florida, and I forgot how much this state is home for me. Tomorrow I’ll be heading down the coast to visit Boca Raton where I grew up, and revisit all of the places I forgot about but sweetly remember. I am sure I won’t recognize a thing. I hardly even realized that the beaches were *that* close to my elementary school until I opened up Google Maps a few weeks ago. I moved in 2000, right at the shift towards a brand new world filled with emails, the internet, and years before social media even existed. I wrote letters to every friend, and sadly the analog format didn’t appeal to most with all of these new shiny ways of communicating, so I lost touch with most of my friends except one—Sheila, who went on to become my pen pal for 24 years. I still have all of her letters in a sparkly purple caboodle—I cherish them so much. I’ll be writing more about my time here in Florida soon 🌞.
Until then, I hope everyone enjoyed their summer solstice! It is said that what you envision on the solstice (and then practice (the hardest part for me!)) will become your reality in the following months. What are your intentions would you like to place for the next half year? Year? Let us know in the comments.
p.s. The Momo Taper Candle Holders are on sale for just a few more days, and then it’s back to the vault. These colors are limited edition and likely won’t be available again. So, if you have your eye on one, be sure to pre-order HERE!
Alright, here’s the roundup.
It is only appropriate that I begin this round up with a playlist I created a few months ago to remind me of my South Florida childhood. This brings back all the good memories and I play it (and add to it) often.
My inner child is delighted by these truly glittery highlighters. I can’t stop marking pages with them :).
And speaking of drawing, I am a new convert to watercolor and I am completely smitten! I bought a little travel kit like this one on my first day in Florida and I’ve been free painting every night while we play Rummikub.
I recently came across this platform and it’s been very fun to fill in my reviews of products I love and discover new ones.
And speaking of it, I love these featured curated gift guides.
It’s a beautiful day to learn that Limited Too is returning! It feels so appropriately timed with my reconnection to my Florida past, since that brand was everything to me in the 90s. I’m praying so hard that the brand will cater to it’s millenial fan base first and foremost. I want the whole line as it was, no notes.
It’s no secret that I love Inness and want to visit their new spa. I visited the property recently and I can confirm that the spa looks absolutely divine.
I came across these excursions from Brooklyn to upstate NY and I need to go!
While we’re on the 90s childhood theme, these sandals speak directly to my fairy-loving heart.
I had a sleepover with my girlfriend Victoria a few weeks ago and after dinner she offered me the tangerine passionfruit flavor of this kombucha and my tastebuds literally celebrated in my mouth. I am now obsessively buying this flavor every time I see it. It is stockpiled in my fridge, no lies.
Idk, something about these are…intriguing? I’m tempted to try the anxiety bracelet and the choker for skin radiance. If I do try, I’ll obviously report back.
Loving these Summer Friday drops by my friend Lil Fairy Marketplace
Speaking of glitter, I kind of want to get behind these glitter freckles 🧚🏼♀️
This cake is insanely masterful:
I am not sure I’ll be doing a bachelorette party but if I do, I will be deeply considering theming it to the Parent Trap like this one:
Ugh, I love this. Speaking to my inner girl so hard 🦢💘
I’m not really one to make recipes that I find on the internet, but this one by Carolina Gelen speaks deeply to my taste. I love the idea of this combo and will be making it very, very soon.
On my list of things to do whenever I get over to Japan:
I love everything that Franny E. does and this is no exception. A ring to help you remember something important. An upgrade to the thread or rubberband we’d tie around our wrist or finger. I love it so much.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the trend is swinging back toward real ingredients. No more fake sugars, no more substitutes. Just a little bit of the real stuff. I always am an advocate for real ingredients, but it is also important for us to do so with a deep awareness. We have to produce (and consume) in a sustainable, regenerative fashion. Maybe more on this some day. I have lots of opinions on this.
Lastly, I’m seeing bag charms everywhere and I’m loving it. I want to make my own and will be dreaming up and sourcing supplies to do so.
What brought you joy this month? Leave a comment! x M
I had a Limited Too birthday party one year and think of it TO THIS DAY. Absolutely love to hear about this comeback 👏🏼
