I absolutely adore Narrowsburg.
Narrowsburg is one of the first places Dan and I explored together when I visited his hometown nearby. Tucked right up against the Delaware river, Narrowsburg boasts beautiful sweeping views of the water and lots of tall trees where bald eagles generally hang out waiting to be spotted like white jewels in the pines. The area is very small and that makes it approachable. It is best enjoyed on the weekend in the summertime when everything is open and full of life. Narrowsburg has a sweet little farmers market on Saturdays, and although we don’t go to it as often as we do the one in Callicoon, it’s still worth a stroll through. There are so many ways to approach a visit, so I thought I’d just take you through how I would spend a few hours there :).
First things first, make a stop at the Tusten Cup for a little beverage and a breakfast sandwich. It’s nothing ground-breaking, but it hits the spot. We love this place for its views of the river, and if you’re really lucky, eagle watching. I will never get over the one time I didn’t go with Dan to get coffee and he saw a huge eagle swoop down right in front of the cafe windows. It was apparently so close that he could see its talons and beak in detail!
After caffeinating, walk along the main street and pop in and out of the many shops. You’ll find art, vintage, outdoor gear, local hand made crafts and more.
