Well friends, we’re back. It was a whirlwind of a trip with a lot of delicious gelato, many morning cappuccinos, and accepting what was and living in the very moment. For those of you who weren’t following along on my Instagram, our checked luggage was lost between Paris and Florence. Our connection in France was frenzied to say the least—we had to navigate the sweatiest, busiest terminal I’ve ever experienced after being trapped on the tarmac for almost a full hour after landing. And due to the strike in Paris, we were almost ushered onto a plane going to Marseilles instead of Florence. By the time we landed in Italy we were exhausted and our clothes were smelly from hours of sweaty travel. We fantazied about a shower, fresh clothes, and bed, as we watched the luggage carousel slow to a complete stop. Half of the plane was still awaiting their bags and we began making jokes about how we’d make it work with the clothes on our backs if our luggage didn’t show up. Well, the joke was on us when hours later, we had all finally finished filling out lost luggage reports. We picked up our rental car 5 hours after our scheduled pick up time. But after a good night’s sleep, we decided to make lemonade out of lemons. We put back on our “plane clothes”, drove into Arezzo, had some cornettos and cappuccinos, and then we. went. shopping.
The rest of our visit was as carefree as we could make it (despite the daily calls to Air France to try to locate our bags) and we drove around the country experiencing the magic of the little nooks and gems that Tuscany and Puglia had to offer us.
There are way more stories to come your way from this trip, but for now, I will begin with the things I found and brought home from Italia!
Love reading about your adventures! Hope you're doing well!
