Amsterdam City Guide
Amsterdam. A city I always felt was overrated and swamped with tourists, and therefore had as a “maybe someday” destination on my years-long travel wish list.
When a wedding in Frankfurt sparked a desire to explore Northern Europe, we decided to book Amsterdam as the hub city to fly in and out of. And man, I am so glad we did. I am in love with this city. We went at the most perfect time of year, and there were very few tourists thanks mostly to the worldwide “situation” we are exhaustingly still navigating through.
The scent of mineral-rich water and sounds of jangling bicycle wheels, rose-hips and magenta flowers on vines, reaching up towards the dark emerald door frames, adorned with hand-painted numbers, where people sit, sipping wine, and smoking cigarettes, sunning their shoulders in the golden hours.
Rent a bike! I was a little wary since I have never ridden a bike in a city before, but it was fairly easy to navigate, and the city certainly caters to bikers over pedestrians. Bike basically 10 minutes in any direction, lock it up, and explore the neighborhood by foot!
